Dragon Age: Origins Expansion Announced
There’ve been a lot of rumors floating around on the internet about an expansion for Bioware’s latest hit, Dragon Age: Origins. Being a big fan of it myself, I’ve been awaiting a yes or no answer about these rumors for a while. Bioware and EA, having kept it a tight secret for a while now, have finally released a lot of details about the upcoming expansion pack, ‘Awakening’.
From what they’ve released so far, the expansion pack will include 5 new playable characters, enemies, specializations and spells. The story follows that of the old game, taking place after the defeat of the “Arch-Demon” and the success of the Gray Wardens. It seems that after a brief period of peace the new-forming Gray Wardens find that there are still Darkspawn crawling around. This raises many questions; and it is, predictably, your job to answer them. Apparently, you can start this expansion pack off with a mysterious new Gray Warden from Orlais or your own preferred character. It’s obvious that it will play exactly like the original and follow the same battle-system. No co-op additions, Bioware? That’s a disappointment, but I’m sure the fans will survive without it.
Dragon Age: Origins ‘Awakening’ has been set to release sometime in March this year with a $39.99 price tag and will be available for all previously available consoles. I probably won’t buy it as soon as it comes out; but I certainly plan to pick it up as soon as possible. When I have a spare $40, that is.
